Vintage Boats meet Vintage Outfits!
The Goodwood Revival near Chichester in Sussex has been described as a magical step back in time, a unique chance to revel in the glamour and allure of motor racing in the romantic time capsule of the world’s most authentic motor circuit.
In September 2013 Colin and Lucie Henwood were lucky enough to be given the opportunity to exhibit the work of Henwood and Dean at this extraordinary event, and they made sure they entered into the spirit of the biggest and best gathering of motor cars and vintage fashion and lifestyle of the 40s, 50s and 60s.
Exhibiting a boat at a motor racing event was a bold move but one which was hugely well received and appreciated by many of the thousands of visitors who stopped to talk or just to admire the craftsmanship on display. Pride of place on the stand was taken by a stunning replica 1930s motor launch, built by the yard in 2009 and now for sale. The ever popular boat-tailed Austin 12 ‘Sheila’ was much admired and provided a constant back drop for photographs, and shelter was provided by Henwood and Dean’s exhibition regular, their 18ft yurt decorated with a 23ft panorama of the workshop - a dry haven when the heavens opened on various occasions!
Goodwood Revival is a truly extraordinary event with an atmosphere and charm all of its very own. The outfits, the noise, the gung-ho spirit of a bygone age all went to make it a really memorable time and an event that is bound to be included on the Henwood calendar from now on.
