Being given the opportunity to take on new-build projects shows that the rich history of wooden boatbuilding on the Thames is thriving and moving forwards to meet the needs and aesthetic desires of the modern boat owner.

NAHLIN OWNERS LAUNCH
Henwood and Dean were honoured to be asked to replicate the original Owner's Launch of the historic 1930's 300' steam launch 'S.Y.Nahlin', which underwent a total restoration and re-commission by G.L.Watson & Co.
The Owner's Launch was a major project on a very tight and demanding schedule, and we met and exceeded the expectations of the owner and managers in terms of both quality and delivery.

VOLTAIRE
Conceived, designed and built by Henwood & Dean in 1986, ‘Voltaire’ is a 25ft punt based on the classic punts of the Edwardian era.
She was built using traditional methods but designed with a higher freeboard than her ancestors in order to cope with the wash from modern motor boats.
She is built of mahogany with teak treads and propelled by a silent 800w electric motor which provides up to 6 hours of comfortable cruising.

SWEET CHESTNUT
In 2006 under the guidance of Colin Henwood, one of our young boatbuilders was given the chance to build a Victorian style skiff from new. He was teamed up with highly skilled craftsman John Cox who has been building traditional Thames rowing skiffs for more than 50 years.
The combined skill and passion of the three craftsmen has resulted in an award from The Transport Trust for 'Young Preservationist of the Year' in recognition of their continuation of the art of skiff building in this country.

LADY HELEN
This beautiful and elegant 25' boat brings the idea of style and design into the 21st century. The brainchild of naval architect Andrew Wolstenholme and Colin Henwood, Lady Helen is traditionally built and her design is strongly influenced by the beauty and elegance for which Thames craft are well known. She is powered by a near silent electric motor and receives a great deal of interest and acclaim from the boating industry and the general public.

POLLY
In 1998 at the International Wooden Boat Show in Greenwich, Colin Henwood was awarded the Classic Boat Magazine trophy for 'Best Professional Boatbuilder' for the stunning 13' electric launch, Polly.
Designed by Andrew Wolstenholme, Polly is traditionally constructed with carvel mahogany planking copper fastened onto steam bent oak timbers. She was awarded the 'Thamesis Trophy' at the Thames Traditional Boat Rally for the best new boat built to a traditional design.
